PRACTICES IN BEING YOURSELF pt.1
For as long as I can remember, I have wrestled with the exploration of who I am. Sometimes it’s been easy. Sometimes it’s been nearly impossible. The drive to know myself deeply has taken me to many places + people that ultimately led me back to me, deep to my core, in new + surprising ways, unlocking new + surprising understandings of myself.
The truth is, who we are is an evolving, dynamic thing, but sometimes it can feel daunting to know where to start. It’s not a one and done experience. It’s a lifetime love affair (full of it’s fair share of inner breakups + fights + make-ups + messiness, too) that ultimately allows us to self-advocate, self-empower, self-sooth, and show up for ourselves + others in ways we couldn’t have imagined. It requires us to look at what we want to see + what we don’t want to see To learn to hold any/all of it + eventually love all that is you, even the parts you think need to be eradicated. Those parts actually need even more understanding + love.
This commitment to knowing + being yourself is iterative + requires commitment, conviction + forgiveness to keep coming back home to who you truly are. It also isn’t meant to be done in a vacuum. We are all constantly being invited to know ourselves more deeply + others actually are a key part in that journey - thru mirroring, co-regulation, support, sharing new perspectives, witnessing, etc.
No matter where you’re at, BELOW IN THE SLIDE IMAGES are a few practices that I always come back to as I continue the journey of being myself. May they be a companion in your own inward exploration.🔥
