SUPERPOWER

I used to think that superpowers were these huge, unbelievable, earth-shattering things to be discovered. I wanted to find my superpower so badly. I wanted it to be the coolest superpower. I knew that when I uncovered my superpower, I could finally live a big, bold life. Make a difference. Change lives. Shift the world for the better! I just needed to find it. To see it. To discover the thing about me that was magical, special, and unique.

I took assessments to see if I could get a hint at what it might be. I did StrengthsFinder 2.0 + uncovered my talents according to a set of predetermined criteria. I had my astrology chart read. I dug into Enneagram, Human Design, Numerology, + more. I paid attention to where I excelled. I took on opportunities outside my comfort zone to see what resonated. I asked people who knew me where they thought I was best in the world. I meditated, asked for guidance + signs for what made me special, unique, + powerful.

These were all fun, informative, + usually interesting. But none of them gave me a lightning bolt moment around clarity of my superpowers.

One day I was having a conversation with a mentor coach + friend about how some parts of being humxn come so naturally for me + others seem like an uphill battle. And the things that come naturally for me are not the things that come naturally for someone else. And then it hit me…

What if my superpowers are actually the very things about me that come so easily that I can completely take them for granted. The things that feel like obvious + second-nature. The things that I assume everyone can do because they come so naturally to me, but are not universally obvious, natural, or easy to others.

The superpower I was looking for was always already there, subtly woven into every fiber of my being, existing in every second of my day. In my authentic way of being. My superpower was actually the thing that came so naturally to me that it felt like nothing, but was actually everything to the world around me.

Maybe the things that feel most obvious to you are actually an indication of your superpower. Don’t assume these things are obvious to others. The world needs your magic. Share it. Share YOU!

SELF-REFLECTIONS:

-What comes so effortlessly for you each day?

-What do people come to you for? What do people count on you for?

-What would disappear from this world if you were no longer here?

-Finish this sentence stem: I am uniquely qualified to…
